New Ohio Business Grant Applications Open June 29, 2021
On June 29, 2021, the Ohio Development Service Agency began accepting applications for four new grant programs designed to help small businesses impacted by the pandemic.
1 – Food & Beverage Establishment Grant:
- This grant provides up to $30,000 to restaurants, bars, coffee shops and other food and drinking businesses affected by the COVID Pandemic.
- The grant amount will be determined by the business’ loss in revenue in 2020
- Some of the requirements to qualify include:
- Must be classified under the NAICS code 722 on the tax return
- Must have experienced at least a 10% reduction in sales/revenue in 2020 and a grant is necessary to help recover from the impact.
- Must have been in continuous operation since at least December 1, 2019 except for interruptions due to COVID
- The applicant business has a valid and unexpired Ohio vendor’s license, food service operations license and/or liquor permit
- Costs incurred for which the business has or will receive reimbursement for another source including any other federal, state or local government grant program and insurance proceeds are ineligible

2 – Entertainment Venue Grant:
- This grant provides up to $30,000 to theaters, music venues, spectator sports venues, museums, and other entertainment establishments affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Grant amount will be determined by the business’ loss in revenue in 2020
- Some of the requirements to qualify include:
- Generally classified under the NAICS code 711, 712 or 713 on the tax return
- Must have experienced at least a 10% reduction in sales/revenue in 2020 and a grant is necessary to help recover from the impact.
- Must have been in continuous operation since at least December 1, 2019 except for interruptions due to COVID
- The applicant business has a valid and unexpired Ohio vendor’s license, food service operations license and/or liquor permit
- Included in the list of ineligible businesses: The applicant business earns 50% or more of its annual revenue from the sale of food or beverages (these businesses are eligible for the Bar and Restaurant Grant program).

3 – Lodging Grant:
- This grant provides up to $30,000 to hotels, motels, and bed and breakfast operations affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Grant amount will be determined by the business’ loss in revenue in 2020
- The applicant business experienced at least a 10% reduction in occupancy in 2020 as a result of COVID-19, and a grant is necessary to help it recover from the impact of COVID-19.
- Must have been in continuous operation since at least December 1, 2019 except for interruptions due to COVID
- The applicant business has a valid and unexpired hotel/motel license from the Ohio Department of Commerce

4 – New Small Business Grant:
- This grant provides up to $10,000 to small businesses that were established between Jan. 1, 2020, and Dec. 31, 2020.
- Must have at least 2 and no more than 25 employees paid via W2 wages as of 1/1/2021.
- Must have the ability to continue operations as a going concern, taking into account a potential program grant.
- The applicant business has experienced revenue loss or incurred unplanned costs substantially caused by COVID-19 and a grant is necessary to help it recover from the impact of COVID-19
- Ineligible businesses include: The applicant business previously received the Small Business Relief Grant;
